Chancel Choir & Hand Bell Choir
Due to illness, death, family matters, and people leaving the church, YOUR vocal and bell choirs have again suffered loss in their ranks. In the past, I have gently urged you to join these organizations, with minimal success. YOU must step up if you wish for the quality of Immanuel's music program to continue.
Please combine your voice with those returning to the Chancel Choir at their first rehearsal, Thursday, September 9, at 7 PM. If you are interested in ringing in the hand bell choir Wednesday evenings, beginning September 8 at 6:30 PM, please speak to me first, because some music- reading ability is needed.
Like the prophet Miriam, in the book of Exodus, YOU can use the gift of music to give thanks to God, thanks for all the love He has shown over the years to Immanuel UCC.
Calling All Instrumentalists
The Chancel Choir will be singing anthems some Sundays this year that call for the addition of optional violin, guitar, flute, oboe, or trumpet. Please let me know if you play any of these instruments and are willing to share you talents with Immanuel.
Sincerely,
Jeff Behling
Welcome Goody Bag
update and thank you!
We want to tell you we appreciate all of you who helped us with the welcome Goody Bags. We appreciate the monetary donation and supplies that some of you have provided to help with this project. Also a word of thanks to Linda Chandler and the youth group for their support in providing a variety of items and assembling some individual bags of Fair Trade chocolates. These items will be used in the bags we are handing out. Another item that we have been including in the adult Goody Bags is the cookbook provided by the women's guild. Thank you to all of you! We hope this gesture of a "Glad you are here Goody Bag" will show our visitors how warm and welcoming we all are and reflect that we are truly glad they have joined us.
Since we started this project we have handed out 13 welcome bags!
This is definitely a project that is a joint effort of many of us. Including you too...
Remember if you see anyone who is visiting with us on Sunday morning for the first time, please go up to them and welcome them by encouraging them to go to the welcome table and take a Goody Bag. This is a great opportunity to introduce yourself and invite them to join us for coffee fellowship.
Thank-you,
Barb Haizlip & Nancy Fleener
A Little More Recycling Info...
Through the recycling of newspapers, magazines, catalogs and mail, each participating organization reduces landfill use, saves water and energy.
So far this year our church has recycled 8.88 tons of paper, which reduced landfill use by 26.64 cubic yards, saved 36,425.76 KWH energy AND the best part, we got paid $44.35 for just throwing our paper in the dumpster! How easy is that?? It may not seem like much... but every pound counts!!! Keep bringing it in!!! Let's fill that dumpster every month!
