Timeless Treasures

THOUGHT FOR THE MONTH:  Winter is temporary: God's love for you is eternal!

We think we have planned some interesting experiences for this year--please mark you r calendars and plan now to join us!!

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24th — KUIPER MUSEUM—GRIFFITH

We are all looking forward to the tour that has antique cars, fire engines, carriages etc. It is a private museum owned by Konnie Kuiper--he conducts the tour. We will be meeting for lunch first at 11:00 at Mi Tierra Restaurant—Griffith Airport, at 1705 E Main Street, Griffith. If you want to carpool from the church you should meet at the church at 10:30. While it has a Mexican name the restaurant serves many things-including breakfast, sandwiches, soup, salads and such.

The tour of the museum will start at 1:00. It is located at 1423 Gatlin Drive, this is the turnoff off of Colfax Ave. for the Emission Testing site in Griffith. Maps will be available. PLEASE be sure to sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 28th SPEAKER AT CHURCH

We will have a speaker from a bank at 11:00 with a Potluck lunch following. PLEASE sign up ahead.

There will be NO MEETING IN MAY because we have 2 events planned in June!!

SATURDAY, JUNE 5th TOUR OF QUARRY IN THORNTON, ILLINOIS  Here is your chance to take a bus tour to the bottom of that interesting Quarry in Thornton. We will carpool from our church at 8:00 to the St. Paul Trinity Lutheran Church in Thornton. The tour bus leaves there at 9:00 so we have to be there on time. We have reservations for 25 people--this would be a good family event. The cost is $15.00 for the tour and $6.00 for lunch at the Lutheran Church after the tour. There is a signup sheet on the bulletin board-please see Elayne Young with questions. The $21.00 must be turned in to Elayne by March 28th.

Tabea Women's Guild

With a new year upon us our guild will start their first meeting with the Stewardship Circle serving on March 11, 2010. Each member will bring their own sandwich and the circle will provide homemade soup and desserts. A little bit of the Irish might show up for the luncheon, so the wearin' of the green would be in style.

We welcome Pastor Dan and his wife Pastor Pam. It's so good to have them here and getting acquainted with our Immanuel Family. Our blessings on both of them in their new endeavor in a new church and area.

Church Women United will have their World Day of Prayer at Immanuel on March 5th. There will be a Fellowship Tea following the worship service. The theme is "Let everything that has breath praise God" by the women of Cameroon West Africa. Everyone is welcome.

Please keep in contact with Immanuel shut-ins. They always need visits, phone calls and cards. It means so much to them when they are thought of.

Circles at 11 :00
Guild at 12:00

WHAT ARE YOU READING THIS WINTER?

The book discussion group has selected Mitch Albom's book "Have A Little Faith.- This seemed like a good choice for our Lenten journey.

In the book a Rabbi and a Detroit Pastor are contrasted and compared. It is about losing belief and finding it again. It is one man's journey but everyone's belief.

Join us March 17th after the Lenten Service to discuss the book.
