Search/Life Bible Study
BEGINS ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21
The members of the Bible Study selected for our study this year the books of 1, 2, 3 John and Jude. Classes will be held at 9:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of every month through April, in the Bible Study room (NE corner).
It is generally agreed by biblical scholars that 1, 2 and 3 John were written by the apostle John who also wrote Revelation. Among the many themes which John states in these books are: God is light, what it means to be children of God, God is love, the relation of love and faith, and the true knowledge. Jude was written by the half- brother of Jesus and James. Jude wrote this short book to address a more somber issue—the danger of false teachers,
If you are interested in joining us this year, please sign the "Bible Study Sign Up Sheet" on the bulletin board in the hallway. You are encouraged to join us!
I look forward to seeing all of you on Tuesday, September 21, for our introduction to this study.

THOUGHT FOR THE MONTH: Every day is a new day unless we drag in the past.
What a great day everyone had at the Taltree Arboretum & Gardens on July 28th. Our guide was very informative about nature and we walked around a small lake with many different wild flowers, trees, etc. We had a picnic lunch afterwards with good fellowship with one another. Many thanks to Donna Graves for arranging the tour.
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22nd - We will be going to the Carmelite Monastery, touring the grounds and buildings in Munster, Indiana at 1628 Ridge Road. The tour will start at 10:00 a.m. and will be about 2 hours. We will see the grotto there and go inside. The cost for the tour will be $2.00 each. We will go out for lunch afterwards to the Commander Restaurant on Ridge and Calumet in Munster. We will carpool from the church at 9:30 a.m. and meet others at the visitors building there. A sign up sheet is on the bulletin board. See Elayne Young for details or call 708-474-9228.
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 20th - We will go to the Memorial Opera House in Valparaiso, Indiana to see a Cabaret Show with songs from the 40's & 50's. The theater was built in 1893 and just going there to see the inside of the building will be a treat. The show starts at 1:00 p.m. and for seniors it will cost $10 each. We have reserved seating and the deadline will be September 4th to pay for the performance. We will go out for lunch before the performance at the Round the Clock Restaurant near the theater and is located at 217 E. Lincolnway, Valparaiso. Lunch will be on your own. We will meet at the church for carpooling at 10:30 a.m. and go directly to the restaurant. A sign up sheet is on the bulletin board for this event. See Elayne Young for infoimation or call 708-474-9228
I hope you put these dates on your calendar and join us!

Tabea Women's Guild
The Guild officers and chairpersons served the indoor picnic with hot dogs, salads, and desserts for their August meeting. With no surprise, Sneaky snake arrived again and brought many other critters to decorate the tables this year. There were 15 members to enjoy the afternoon with fun and good food.
On September 9, the Life Issue Circle will have a "Surprise" luncheon. Come join us for fellowship and fun. Circles meet at 11:00 a.m. and Guild at noon.
At the August meeting there was sad news that Helen Lee had passed away. She was a long time member of the Guild. She served the guild in many ways and she will be greatly missed. Prayers go out to her family and friends.
Happy Birthday to all those celebrating a birthday this month. Get well wishes go out to our sick and shut-ins.
Hope to see you at our next meeting in September.

These events are a success because of your support and the volunteers who joined us to put these events together. We also want to thank you for your generous donations for the missions we have supported!
We hope you are planning to join us for the September 18th event. We will have an Elvis impersonator here at Immanuel and a meal of burgers, fries and root beer floats prior to the show!
