Choir & Bell Choir APPLAUD GOD! “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.” Psalm 100:1, NRSV “On your feet now — applaud God!” Psalm 100:1, The Message At times, when the choir or bell choir first attempts to learn a new song, “noise” it is, but “joyful” nevertheless, as we laugh at our ill-fated attempt! We are not a group of professionals. Most of us do not consider ourselves soloists; however, after we practice, together our voices or bells “applaud God” each Sunday during the choir year. Out time of practice each week, and our Sunday morning anthems, are our special way to give honor and praise to the awesome presence of God in our lives! YOU do not need to be a professional, nor do YOU need to be a soloist, to join us in applauding God. So that we can continue to make a joyful noise, we desperately need to add YOU, anyone high school age or above, to the dedicated group of individuals that presently gather together to do so. Won’t YOU consider joining us each Thursday evening (or most Thursdays, since we realize conflicts arise) at 7:00 PM, beginning September 4th? Come out and work — and even laugh — with us, as together, we use our voices to “make a joyful noise to the Lord.” We are fortunate to have eleven dedicated handbell ringers applauding God at this time, and since this is the number required to ring our 3-octave set of bells, we do not presently need any other ringers. We would still like to hear from YOU, however, if YOU would be interested in joining the handbell choir as the need arises. Just let any member of the choir, or the director, know of your interest. We meet each Wednesday at 6:30 PM, beginning September 3rd. Sincerely, Jeff Behling, Choir Director
Book Discussion Group We'd like to have you join us for the discussion of "Can't Wait to Get to Heaven" by Fannie Flagg. So hit your local library or book store for the book and plan to join us September 10th at 7:30 p.m.
Tabea Women's Guild Friendship, laughter and peanuts were enjoyed by a group of about 25 Guild members and friends, at Amarillo’s on July 10th. We do feel that our server was overloaded for the job and there were a few glitches in receiving our bills. Think of alternative places for 2009 that we can discuss for making a change. See you on August 14th for our indoor picnic. Don’t forget your potluck dish! Circles at 11:00 Guild at 12:00 Sincerely, Nelda Helter
Timeless Treasures THOUGHT FOR THE MONTH- Money can’t buy sunsets, songs of wild birds, and music of the wind in the trees—these are as free as the air we breathe! THURSDAY, AUGUST 28th--ON THE ROAD AGAIN We will be visiting the Lake of the Red Cedars Museum in Cedar Lake. It will be an interesting tour of what life was like in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s in our region. They are not open on Wednesdays SO we will CHANGE DAYS FOR THIS MONTH. We will car pool from the church, leaving at 11:00 to eat lunch at Harry 0’s on 41 near the turn off to Cedar Lake (133rd). The Museum tours start at 1:00. Plan now to join us for this walk into the past. PLEASE remember to sign up for any of our meetings so we know how many to plan for. If something comes up and you can’t join us we would still rather plan for too many rather than not have enough food if it’s one of our monthly luncheons. Donna Graves
